La vida Tiene Curvas insospechadas. Por ahi del año 2000, en una platica telefonica con mi prima Guillermina (QEPD) Me pregunto sobre canciones "Padres" en ingles.
- De Que Época?- Interrogue
- De todas- Respondió tajante- Hay Muchas que me gustan ,pero ni los nombres conozco.
- Si quieres te grabo un caset variadito.
-Si me haces favor, te lo voy a agradecer.

Sus gustos eran mayormente romanticos y con copiarle uno de Hengelbert Humperdick, libre el compromiso. Me prometi dedicarle un par de horas algún fin de semana y grabarle un caset que la sorprendiera y lo fui relegando una y otra vez.

Un domingo , sali a desayunar con mi familia y mientras paseabamos por la plaza comercial de Chalco, me llamo la atencion un puesto de Readers Digest, en el exhibian varias colecciones musicales y algunos libros interesantes, mi mirada se poso en esta coleccion de 5 CDs y de inmediato supe que ese seria el regalo de Guille en Navidad.
- Esta coleccion esta padrisima para darsela a la Yeye - comente a mi esposa.
-Pues comprala de una vez.- Sugirió.
Dudando de mi capital, pregunte por el precio , al escuchar a la dependienta decir que estaba en oferta a casi la mitad de precio me apresure a comprar, Cuando mi mujer sugirio que comprara otra para mi aprovechando el precio, le conteste que no, que despues se la pediria prestada para grabarla.
Moviendo la cabeza con desaprobacion. Expreso- Como crees? Que barbaro! no te da pena?- y al ver mi cara de regañado solto la risa y concluyo- Como tu quieras ,pues.
Entrando enero, recibi una llamada de Yeye para informarme ,que estaba encantada con los discos, que ya los habia pasado a casets para traerlos en el carro y escucharlos en la oficina. varias veces estuve tentado a pedirselos prestados pero recordaba mi mujer moviendo la cabeza y la verguenza me dominaba y me contenia.

En el 2004, Yeye fallecio. Su muerte fue como un reflejo de mi propia mortalidad, fue darme cuenta, de que no importan los planes que tengas para mañana, ni las pinches deudas, ni tus ilusiones y no importa cuantos te quieren ,ni cuantos te odian. Nomas te mueres y ya.

Un par de años despues mi tia me llamo y me pidio que fuera a "La Casa" para ver algunas mejoras que queria hacer. Me contrato el cambio de ventanas y la pintura de la sala y el comedor. En el cambio de muebles de un lugar para otro , me encontre el estuche de discos y mientras lo observaba. escuche a mi tia decir.- esos discos fueron el regalo que mas le gusto, aquella navidad. Por que no te los llevas?- Lo dude y mi tia al notarlo me animo.
-Andale, llevatelos es como con los libros de mi papa. Lo que en tus manos es un tesoro, para otros es basura. Tu mejor que nadie puedes valorar esos discos.

Esta de sobra decir que acepte. Hoy te comparto esta coleccion, un recuerdo y un trozo de corazon.

This series is a collection of extremely high quality (both in terms of material and audio) records their Chicago blues musicians from all the known giants such as Muddy Waters, Pinetop Perkins, Magic Slim, to little-known and virtually only connoisseurs are familiar names. Wynton Learson Marsalis (born October 18, 1961) is a trumpeter, composer, teacher, music educator, and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, United States. Marsalis has promoted the appreciation of classical and jazz music often to young "audiences. Marsalis has been awarded nine Grammys in both genres, and a jazz recording of his was the first of its kind to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music.

Marsalis is the son of jazz musician Ellis Marsalis, Jr. (pianist), grandson to Ellis Marsalis, SR., and brother to Branford (saxophonist), Delfeayo, Mboya (trombonist), and Jason (drummer).

At age 17, the youngest musician Wynton was admitted to Tanglewood's Berkshire Music Center, where he won the school's Harvey Shapiro Award for outstanding student brass. Wynton moved to New York City to attend Juilliard in 1979, and picked up gigs around town. During this period, Wynton received a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts to spend time and study with the trumpet innovator Woody Shaw, one of Wynton's major influences at the time. In 1980, Wynton joined the Jazz Messengers led by Art Blakey. In the years that followed.now, Wynton performed with Sarah Vaughan, Dizzy Gillespie, Sweets Edison, Clark Terry, Sonny Rollins, Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams and countless other jazz legends.

In 1995, PBS premiered Marsalis On Music, an educational television series on jazz and classical music hosted and written by Marsalis. Also, in 1995, National Public Radio aired the first of Marsalis ’ 26-week series, entitled Making the Music. Wynton's radio and television series were awarded the George Foster Peabody Award. Marsalis has also written five books: the Sweet Swing Blues on the Road, Jazz in the Bittersweet Blues of Life, To a Young Musician: Letters from the Road, Jazz ABZ (an A to Z collection of poems celebrating jazz greats), and his most recent release, Moving to Higher Ground: How Jazz Can Change Your Life.[citation needed]

In 1987, Wynton Marsalis co-founded a co jazz program at Lincoln Center. In July 1996, Jazz at Lincoln Center was installed as new constituent of Lincoln Center. In October 2004, Marsalis opened Frederick p. Rose Hall, the world's first institution for jazz containing three performance spaces (including the first concert hall designed specifically for jazz) along with the broadcast, recording, rehearsal and educational facilities. Wynton presently serves as Artistic Director for Jazz at Lincoln Center and Music Director for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.[citation needed] One of his most recent releases was a 2011 collaboration with blues-rock guitarist Eric Clapton, a Jazz at Lincoln Center concert that well-produced the live album by Eric Clapton & Wynton Marsalis Play the Blues.

In December 2011, Marsalis was named cultural correspondent for the new CBS This Morning.
